The walk starts tomorrow!! It's hard to believe the day has arrived. For those of you who don't know what we are doing - Mom and I are participating in a 342-mile walk across the state of Pennsylvania in support of the Wounded Warrior Project.  The name of the event is the PA Hero Walk and it is in its second year.  To follow our itinerary, you can visit their site at:  http://www.paherowalk.org/   Dad heard about it on the radio almost one month ago and thought it was something we should do.  Several pairs of running shoes later, Mom and I are underway.  I am planning to walk and Mom is here for strategic and moral support for the group.

We made it to Villanova University at 6:30 PM tonight. Beautiful campus. Mom and I are in our dorm room - boy, does this bring back memories for both of us. We have a 6:30AM call tomorrow and will step off from the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum at 8 AM - Just like Rocky!  Breakfast will be waiting a few miles up the road for us and we will complete 19 miles before the day is over. We are feeling good. A little nervous about how we will do, but we are really excited. There are some amazing people here - all walking for very personal reasons and in honor of some incredibly brave men and women. Please think good thoughts for all of us tomorrow – looks like there will be 40 of us stepping off on this first leg.

I'm going to do my best to share my experiences along the way on this blog.  Feel free to share the web address with anyone you think might find it interesting.  I am also on Twitter (twitter.com/FemaleVeterans) and on Facebook (Facebook: Search "FemaleVeterans").  Please bear with me as I learn all of this new technology - I'm hoping to get really good at it.  More tomorrow...
